Swiss Jil Teichmann beat Russian Polina Kudermetova, the No 8 seed, 6-3, 6-0 to reach the quarter-finals of the Zavarovalnica Sava Ljubljana on Thursday afternoon.
Teichmann, ranked No 182, will play the winner of the match between No 4 seed Sara Bejlek and Belarusian wildcard Kristina Dmitruk next.
In the previous round, the Swiss edged out lucky loser Susan Bandecchi (6-4, 2-6, 7-6 (4)).
Kudermetova, ranked No 164, won against Lina Gjorcheska (6-1, 6-2) during the 32.
