Zeynep Sonmez reached the quarter-finals of the Zavarovalnica Sava Ljubljana by defeating Croat Antonia Ruzic 3-6, 6-3, 6-2 on Wednesday afternoon.
Sonmez, ranked No 177, will play Pole Katarzyna Kawa next.
Ahead of her victory, Zeynep Sonmez won against qualifier Oleksandra Oliynykova (6-3, 6-4).
Ruzic, ranked No 326, won against Cypriot Raluka Serban, the No 7 seed (6-2, 6-0) in the previous round.
