German Ella Seidel, the No 5 seed, won against Spanish qualifier Angela Fita Boluda 4-6, 6-3, 6-1 to advance to the last eight of the Zavarovalnica Sava Ljubljana on Wednesday.
Seidel, ranked No 141, will play the winner of the match between Austrian qualifier Sinja Kraus and Serb Olga Danilovic, the No 3 seed, next.
The 19-year-old German beat Slovenian wildcard Pia Lovric (6-2, 6-1) in the previous round.
In the previous round, Fita Boluda, ranked No 270, edged out Ukrainian Katarina Zavatska (6-0, 5-7, 6-4).
