Pole Katarzyna Kawa won against Slovak Anna Karolina Schmiedlova, the top seed, 7-5, 6-2 to move into the last 8 of the Zavarovalnica Sava Ljubljana on Wednesday.
Kawa, ranked No 251, will play the winner of the match between Zeynep Sonmez and Croat Antonia Ruzic next.
The Pole edged out Slovenian Dalila Jakupovic (6-4, 4-6, 6-4) ahead of her victory.
In the previous round, Schmiedlova, ranked No 58, defeated Uzbek Nigina Abduraimova (6-3, 6-2).
