Slovenian Kaja Juvan, the No 6 seed, advanced to the last 16 of the Zavarovalnica Sava Ljubljana when qualifier Gabriela Knutson retired on Tuesday.
Juvan, ranked No 106, led 3-0 when Knutson, ranked No 204, pulled out on Tuesday afternoon.
