Italian Nuria Brancaccio advanced to the quarter-finals of the Zavarovalnica Sava Ljubljana by defeating Ukrainian Anastasiya Sobolieva 7-6 (6), 6-0 on Wednesday night.
Brancaccio, ranked No 230, will face the winner of the match between qualifier Ipek Oz and Spaniard Nuria Parrizas Diaz, the second seed, next.
The Italian won against Brazilian Laura Pigossi, the No 6 seed (6-4, 6-4) ahead of her victory.
In the previous round, Sobolieva, ranked No 214, beat Slovenian wildcard Ela Milic (6-2, 7-5).
