Wuhan Open: Frech maintains fine run to book spot in last eight

Pole Magdalena Frech beat Brazilian Beatriz Haddad Maia, the No 9 seed, 6-3, 6-2 to move into the last eight of the Wuhan Open at the Optics Valley International Tennis Center.
Frech, ranked No 27, will play Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka, the top seed, next.
In the previous rounds of the Wuhan tournament, the Pole defeated Japanese qualifier Mai Hontama (6-0, 6-4) and American Emma Navarro, the No 6 seed (6-4, 3-6, 6-3).
Haddad Maia, ranked No 12, beat American Madison Keys (7-6 (7), 6-2) and Russian Veronika Kudermetova (6-1, 6-4) earlier in the tournament.
