Erika Andreeva wins sister battle with surprise victory over Mirra in Wuhan
Erika Andreeva won against Mirra Andreeva 6-3, 6-1 on Wednesday afternoon. She’ll play the winner of the match between Chinese Yue Yuan and Italian Jasmine Paolini, the No 3 seed, in the next round
Lucky loser Erika Andreeva won the battle of the sisters as she beat No 16 seed Mirra Andreeva 6-3, 6-1 to move into the last 16 of the Wuhan Open at the Optics Valley International Tennis Center on Wednesday.
Andreeva, ranked No 70, will face Italian Jasmine Paolini, the No 3 seed, next.
Erika Andreeva defeated Ukrainian Dayana Yastremska (7-5, 6-4) ahead of her victory.
In the previous round of the Wuhan tournament, Andreeva, ranked No 19, won against Chinese wildcard Xiyu Wang (7-6 (5), 6-3).
