WTA Indian Wells: Muchova through to last 16 to face Swiatek
Muchova won against Katerina Siniakova 7-5, 6-1 on Sunday. She’ll face Pole Iga Swiatek, the second seed, in the next round
No 15 seed Karolina Muchova advanced to the fourth round of the BNP Paribas Open by winning against Katerina Siniakova 7-5, 6-1 at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden on Sunday.
Muchova, ranked No 15, will face Poland’s Iga Swiatek, the second seed, next. The Pole, ranked No 2 in the world, has a 3-1 edge over Muchova, including a win over the Czech at the United Cup at the start of the season.
Muchova beat Italian Elisabetta Cocciaretto (6-4, 6-3) earlier in the week. In the previous rounds of the tournament, Siniakova, ranked No 59, defeated Argentinian qualifier Maria Lourdes Carle (6-2, 6-1) and Kazakh Yulia Putintseva, the No 21 seed (6-2, 6-2).
