WTA Dubai: Navarro beats Bencic to move into last 16
The American will play Romanian wildcard Sorana Cirstea in the next round
American Emma Navarro, the No 8 seed, moved into the last 16 of the Dubai Open by defeating Swiss Belinda Bencic 7-6 (6), 2-6, 6-3 at The Aviation Club Tennis Centre on Wednesday.
Navarro, ranked No 9, will face Romanian wildcard Sorana Cirstea next.
In the previous round of the tournament, Bencic, ranked No 66, won against Japanese qualifier Aoi Ito (6-0, 6-2).
