WTA Adelaide: Top seed Pegula beats Sakkari in straight sets
Jessica Pegula won against Maria Sakkari 6-4, 6-1 on Wednesday and will face the winner of the match between American lucky loser Ashlyn Krueger and Spaniard Paula Badosa, the No 5 seed, in the next round
American Jessica Pegula, the top seed, reached the quarter-finals of the WTA Adelaide International by winning against Greek lucky loser Maria Sakkari 6-4, 6-1 at the Memorial Drive Tennis Park on Wednesday.
Pegula, ranked No 7, will play the winner of the match between American lucky loser Ashlyn Krueger and Spaniard Paula Badosa, the No 5 seed, next.
Sakkari, ranked No 32, beat Linda Noskova (6-3, 6-3) in the previous round of the tournament.
