WTA Adelaide: Siniakova powers past Pliskova for loss of only three games
Katerina Siniakova defeated Karolina Pliskova 6-2, 6-1 on Tuesday night. She’ll face Russian qualifier Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova in the next round
Qualifier Katerina Siniakova moved into the second round of the Adelaide Open by beating wildcard Karolina Pliskova 6-2, 6-1 at the Memorial Drive Tennis Park.
After playing excellent tennis to defeat Naomi Osaka in Brisbane, Pliskova was unable to bring her best against Siniakova in Adelaide on Tuesday, failing to win more than three games against the world No 49. The serve was a particular struggle for Pliskova, with the Czech facing a total of 22 break points and losing her serve on six occasions across the match.
Siniakova will play Russian qualifier Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova next.
