WTA Adelaide: Siegemund rides United Cup confidence to upset Samsonova
Laura Siegemund edged out Liudmila Samsonova 6-7 (1), 6-4, 6-4 on Tuesday. She’ll play Romanian lucky loser Ana Bogdan in the next round

German Laura Siegemund reached the second round of the Adelaide Open by edging out Russian Liudmila Samsonova, the No 7 seed, 6-7 (1), 6-4, 6-4 at the Memorial Drive Tennis Park on Tuesday.
Siegemund, ranked No 89 and part of Germany’s winning United Cup team over the weekend, will face Romanian lucky loser Ana Bogdan next.
