WTA Adelaide: Ostapenko to face Kasatkina in final
Jelena Ostapenko won against Ekaterina Alexandrova 6-2, 7-6 (3) on Friday and will face Russian Daria Kasatkina in the Adelaide final.
Latvian Jelena Ostapenko, the No 6 seed, defeated Russian Ekaterina Alexandrova 6-2, 7-6 (3) to advance to the final of the Adelaide Open at the Memorial Drive Tennis Park on Friday.
Ostapenko, ranked No 12, will face Russian Daria Kasatkina next. Kasatkina received a walkover in the semi-finals when second seed Jessica Pegula withdrew due to GI illness prior to the match.
Ahead of her win today, the Latvian won against Romanian Sorana Cirstea (2-6, 6-2, 6-4), Frenchwoman Caroline Garcia (6-4, 5-7, 6-4) and Ukrainian Marta Kostyuk (7-5, 6-3).
Alexandrova, ranked No 21, beat Pole Magda Linette (3-6, 7-6 (8), 7-5), No 8 seed Veronika Kudermetova (6-4, 6-4) and Kazakh Elena Rybakina, the top seed (6-3, 6-3) earlier in the week.
