Wozniacki battles past Volynets to reach fourth round in Indian Wells

Dane wildcard Caroline Wozniacki advanced to the last 16 of the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells by defeating American wildcard Katie Volynets 6-2, 4-6, 6-0 at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden on Sunday night.
Wozniacki, ranked No 204, will face another former world No 1, German Angelique Kerber, next.
The 33-year-old Dane won against Chinese Lin Zhu (7-6 (6), 6-1) and Croat Donna Vekic, the No 25 seed (7-6 (5), 6-3) earlier in the tournament.
In the previous rounds of the Indian Wells tournament, Volynets, ranked No 131, won against Russian Mirra Andreeva (7-5, 7-5) and Tunisian Ons Jabeur, the No 6 seed (6-4, 6-4).
