Sakkari overcomes Cirstea in second round of Western & Southern Open
Maria Sakkari edged out Sorana Cirstea 2-6, 6-3, 7-5 on Wednesday evening. She’ll face the winner of the match between Croat Petra Martic and Karolina Muchova in the next round.

Greek Maria Sakkari, the No 8 seed, edged out Romanian Sorana Cirstea (2-6, 6-3, 7-5) to advance to the third round of the Western & Southern Open at the Linder Tennis Family Center in Cincinnati on Wednesday evening.
Sakkari, ranked No 8, will play the winner of the match between Croat Petra Martic and Karolina Muchova next.
In the previous round of the Cincy Open, Cirstea, ranked No 31, won against Russian Ekaterina Alexandrova (6-0, 6-2).
