Wimbledon champion Rybakina regains momentum with Cincinnati quarter-final berth
Elena Rybakina is the first player through to the Cincinnati quarter-finals after beating Alison Riske during third-round action on Thursday. World No 1 Iga Swiatek could be Rybakina’s next opponent.
Elena Rybakina got off to a bit of a slow start to her North America summer hard-court swing, which is understandable on the heels of her greatest triumph at Wimbledon.
However, the world No 25 appears to be putting momentum back on her side in time for the year’s final Grand Slam — the US Open. Rybakina punched her ticket to the Western & Southern Open quarter-finals with a 6-2, 6-4 victory over Alison Riske-Amritraj on Thursday afternoon.
The Kazakh awaits either top seed Iga Swiatek or American Madison Keys.
Cincinnati WTA 1000, other round of 16 matches and results:

- Jessica Pegula vs. Emma Raducanu
- Ajla Tomljanovic vs. Veronika Kudermetova
- Elise Mertens vs. Caroline Garcia

- Iga Swiatek vs. Madison Keys
