Badosa beats Stearns to reach Cincinnati second round
Paula Badosa is through to the last 32 at the WTA 1000 event in Cincinnati following Wednesday’s straight-set success against Peyton Stearns.
Spaniard Paula Badosa reached the second round of the Western & Southern Open by defeating American wild card Peyton Stearns 6-2, 7-5 at the Lindner Family Tennis Center in Cincinnati on Wednesday afternoon.
Badosa, ranked No 37, awaits the winner of a match between Russian Anna Kalinskaya, the No 13 seed, and Katerina Siniakova.
