Washington Open: Wang ousts Pliskova in first round

Chinese Yafan Wang won against Karolina Pliskova 5-7, 6-3, 6-0 to advance to the second round of the Washington Open at the William H.G. FitzGerald Tennis Center on Monday evening.

Wang, ranked No 73, will face the winner of the match between American qualifier Hailey Baptiste and Belarusian Victoria Azarenka, the No 6 seed, next.
