Wildcard Robin Montgomery advanced to the second round of the Washington Open by winning against Shelby Rogers 7-5, 6-3 at the William H.G. FitzGerald Tennis Center on Monday evening.
Montgomery, ranked No 131, will play No 4 seed Ons Jabeur next.
