Washington Open: Dolehide sees off Anisimova to make semi-finals

Caroline Dolehide won against qualifier Amanda Anisimova 7-6 (5), 6-1 to advance to the last four of the Washington Open at the William H.G. FitzGerald Tennis Center on Friday evening.
Dolehide, ranked No 49, will face the winner of the match between wildcard Emma Raducanu and Spanish wildcard Paula Badosa next.
Caroline Dolehide edged out Ukrainian Lesia Tsurenko (6-1, 3-6, 6-4) and defeated Russian Daria Kasatkina, the second seed (2-6, 7-5, 6-0) in the previous rounds of the Washington tournament.
Earlier in the tournament, Anisimova, ranked No 176, beat Sloane Stephens (6-3, 7-5) and edged out Russian Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova, the No 7 seed (6-1, 6-7 (4), 6-4).
