Veneto Open: Wickmayer continues strong grass form

Belgian Yanina Wickmayer, the No 8 seed, edged out American Sofia Kenin 3-6, 6-4, 7-5 to advance to the quarter-finals of the Veneto Open at the Tennis Club Gaiba on Wednesday.
Wickmayer, ranked No 117, will face German Tatjana Maria, the top seed, next.
The 33-year-old Belgian won against Australian Priscilla Hon (7-5, 6-4) ahead of her victory.
In the previous round of the Gaiba tournament, Kenin, ranked No 127, beat Slovenian Tamara Zidansek (6-4, 6-2).
