Italian Sara Errani, the No 4 seed, beat Ukrainian Katarina Zavatska 7-6 (4), 7-5 to reach the last eight of the Veneto Open promoted by Regione del Veneto on Thursday afternoon.
Errani, ranked No 91, will face Filipino Alexandra Eala next.
The 37-year-old Italian won against Serb Natalija Stevanovic (6-2, 6-4) in the previous round.
In the previous round, Zavatska, ranked No 210, defeated Bulgarian Gergana Topalova (6-2, 6-2).
