Swiss qualifier Susan Bandecchi defeated Russian Erika Andreeva, the No 7 seed, 7-5, 6-4 to move into the last 8 of the Veneto Open promoted by Regione del Veneto on Wednesday.
Bandecchi, ranked No 322, will play the winner of the match between Romanian Irina Bara and Indian lucky loser Ankita Raina next.
In the previous round, the Swiss won against New Zealander Lulu Sun (6-3, 6-4).
Andreeva, ranked No 97, won against Italian wildcard Camilla Rosatello (4-6, 6-3, 6-3) in the 32.
