Veneto Open: Bonaventure beats Brancaccio to reach quarter-finals

Belgian Ysaline Bonaventure, the No 3 seed, won against Italian Nuria Brancaccio 6-2, 6-2 to reach the quarter-finals of the Veneto Open at the Tennis Club Gaiba on Thursday.

Bonaventure, ranked No 93, will face the winner of the match between American Robin Montgomery and Brazilian Laura Pigossi next.

The Belgian edged out Spaniard Marina Bassols Ribera (6-7 (4), 6-2, 6-4) ahead of her victory.

In the previous round of the Gaiba tournament, Brancaccio, ranked No 184, defeated Romanian Irina Bara (6-4, 6-1).
