Upper Austria Ladies: Martic comes through tough Avanesyan test to reach last eight

Croat qualifier Petra Martic moved into the last eight of the Upper Austria Ladies by edging out Armenian Elina Avanesyan, the No 7 seed, 6-4, 4-6, 7-5 at the TipsArena in Linz.
Martic, ranked No 125, will face the winner of the match between Russian Ekaterina Alexandrova, the No 4 seed, and Belarusian qualifier Aliaksandra Sasnovich next.
The 34-year-old Croat beat German wildcard Eva Lys (6-4, 5-7, 6-3) in the previous round of the Linz tournament.
In the first round of the Linz tournament, Avanesyan, ranked No 49, won against Katerina Siniakova (6-3, 6-2).
