Trophée Clarins: Shnaider overcomes Jacquemont in marathon to reach quarters

Russian Diana Shnaider, the No 6 seed, edged out French qualifier Elsa Jacquemot 7-5, 4-6, 7-6 (5) to reach the last eight of the Trophée Clarins on Thursday.
The match lasted 3 hours and 12 minutes, including a marathon ninth game in the final set where Shnaider saved an incredible 14 break points in the game before holding her serve.
Shnaider, ranked No 62, will play the winner of the match between Russian Erika Andreeva and Frenchwoman Diane Parry, the No 4 seed, next.
The 20-year-old Russian defeated Belgian Greet Minnen (6-4, 6-3) in the previous round.
In the 32, Jacquemot, ranked No 158, won against Heather Watson (6-7 (7), 6-3, 6-3).
