Romanian qualifier Elena-Gabriela Ruse advanced to the semi-finals of the Trophée Clarins by winning against Frenchwoman Alize Cornet 6-1, 6-2 on Friday.
Ruse, ranked No 148, will play American Emma Navarro, the top seed, next.
The Romanian beat Chinese Lin Zhu, the No 5 seed (0-6, 6-1, 6-1) and French wildcard Kristina Mladenovic (6-1, 6-0) in the previous rounds.
Earlier in the tournament, Cornet, ranked No 99, won against Ukrainian Yulia Starodubtseva (6-3, 6-3) and Australian qualifier Olivia Gadecki (6-4, 4-6, 6-3).
