Trophée Clarins: Halep pulls out due to knee injury
Mccartney Kessler benefited from the abandonment of Simona Halep (5-7, 3-2) on Wednesday and will face the winner of the match between top seed Emma Navarro and qualifier Lauren Davis in the next round

American Mccartney Kessler advanced to the last 16 of the Trophée Clarins when Romanian wildcard Simona Halep retired on Wednesday.
Kessler, ranked No 123, led 5-7, 3-2 when former world No 1 Halep pulled out on Wednesday afternoon, apparently due to a knee issue.
The American will play the winner of the match between top seed Emma Navarro and qualifier Lauren Davis next.
