Frenchwoman Alize Cornet advanced to the last 8 of the Trophée Clarins by winning against Australian qualifier Olivia Gadecki 6-4, 4-6, 6-3 on Thursday evening.
Cornet, ranked No 99, will face Romanian qualifier Elena-Gabriela Ruse next.
The 34-year-old Frenchman defeated Ukrainian Yulia Starodubtseva (6-3, 6-3) in the previous round.
In the previous round, Gadecki, ranked No 168, benefited from the abandonment of American Sloane Stephens, the No 3 seed (6-1, 3-2).
