Romanian Ana Bogdan, the No 5 seed, reached the last 8 of the Transylvania Open by edging out wildcard Nikola Bartunkova 4-6, 7-6 (5), 7-5 at the BTarena in Cluj-Napoca on Thursday evening.
Bogdan, ranked No 73, will face Spaniard Rebeka Masarova, the No 4 seed, next.
The Romanian beat Bulgarian Viktoriya Tomova (6-4, 6-1) in the previous round of the Cluj-Napoca tournament.
