Transylvania Open: Arango makes quarter-finals

Colombian Emiliana Arango moved into the last 8 of the Transylvania Open by winning against Swiss Jil Teichmann 6-3, 6-3 at the BTarena in Cluj-Napoca on Thursday.

Arango, ranked No 118, will face the winner of the match between Hungarian Anna Bondar and Romanian wildcard Elena-Gabriela Ruse next.

In the previous round of the Cluj-Napoca tournament, the 22-year-old Colombian defeated Frenchwoman Jessika Ponchet (6-3, 7-6 (4)).

Teichmann, ranked No 142, beat Belgian Yanina Wickmayer, the No 6 seed (6-4, 7-6 (6)) in the previous round of the Cluj-Napoca tournament.
