Colombian Emiliana Arango defeated Frenchwoman Jessika Ponchet 6-3, 7-6 (4) to move into the second round of the Transylvania Open in Cluj-Napoca.

Arango, ranked No 118, will play the winner of the match between Belgian Yanina Wickmayer, the No 6 seed, and Swiss Jil Teichmann next.
