WTA Toronto: Kalinskaya beats Chirico to advance to second round
The 10th seeded Russian will face Ukrainian Lesia Tsurenko in the next round
Russian Anna Kalinskaya, the No 10 seed, beat American qualifier Louisa Chirico 6-2, 6-3 to move into the second round of the WTA National Bank Open at the Aviva Centre in Toronto on Tuesday.
Kalinskaya, ranked No 17, will face Ukrainian Lesia Tsurenko next. This was the Russian’s first match on the tour since pulling out of Wimbledon during her fourth-round clash against Elena Rybakina due to injury.
