Tokyo: Ishii books spot in second round
The qualifier defeated Sara Saito 6-1, 6-1 in the first round on Tuesday

Qualifier Sayaka Ishii defeated lucky loser Sara Saito 6-1, 6-1 to advance to the second round of the WTA Toray Pan Pacific Open at the Ariake Coliseum on Tuesday.
This was the 19-year-old Japanese player’s first career WTA main draw win. She came through the qualifying draw, beating top qualifying seed Clara Tauson on her way.
Ishii, ranked No 279, will face qualifier Zeynep Sonmez next.
