Romanian wildcard Patricia Maria Tig edged out Dutchwoman Anouk Koevermans 6-1, 3-6, 7-5 to reach the semi-finals of the Tiriac Foundation Trophy on Friday afternoon.
Tig, ranked No 300, will play Liechtensteiner Kathinka von Deichmann next.
The Romanian won against Irina Bara (6-1, 6-2) and No 3 seed Irina-Camelia Begu (6-3, 6-4) ahead of her victory.
In the previous rounds, Koevermans, ranked No 246, defeated Romanian wildcard Georgia Andreea Craciun (6-2, 7-5) and Romanian Anca Todoni, the No 5 seed (W/O).
