Qualifier Alevtina Ibragimova reached the quarter-finals of the Tiriac Foundation Trophy by defeating qualifier Alina Charaeva 6-4, 6-4 on Wednesday.
Ibragimova, ranked No 335, will play the winner of the match between Serb Dejana Radanovic and Romanian Miriam Bulgaru next.
Alevtina Ibragimova benefited from the abandonment of Frenchwoman Carole Monnet (4-6, 6-4, 4-0) ahead of her victory.
In the previous round, Charaeva, ranked No 250, won against Pole Katarzyna Kawa, the No 8 seed (6-0, 6-4).
