Italian Sara Errani defeated Hungarian Dalma Galfi, the No 8 seed, 2-6, 6-3, 6-2 to move into the quarter-finals of the Tiriac Foundation Trophy on Wednesday afternoon.
Errani, ranked No 115, will face Spanish qualifier Rebeka Masarova next.
Ahead of her victory, the 35-year-old Italian won against Romanian wildcard Ioana Loredana Rosca (6-1, 6-0).
Galfi, ranked No 79, won against Australian Jaimee Fourlis (6-4, 6-4) in the previous round.
