Italian Sara Errani, the No 4 seed, defeated Romanian qualifier Maria Sara Popa 6-4, 6-1 to reach the last eight of the Tiriac Foundation Trophy on Thursday night.
Errani, ranked No 115, will play German Noma Noha Akugue, the No 7 seed, next.
The 36-year-old Italian won against Dutch lucky loser Suzan Lamens (6-0, 6-2) ahead of her victory.
In the previous round, Maria Sara Popa won against wildcard Irina Fetecau (6-1, 7-6 (8)).
