Belgian Marie Benoit reached the last 8 of the Tiriac Foundation Trophy by beating Swiss Valentina Ryser 6-4, 7-5 on Wednesday afternoon.
Benoit, ranked No 223, will play the winner of the match between Georgian qualifier Ekaterine Gorgodze and Spaniard Aliona Bolsova next.
The Belgian won against Swiss qualifier Leonie Kung (6-2, 7-6 (10)) in the previous round.
In the 32, Ryser, ranked No 241, benefited from the abandonment of Russian Ekaterina Makarova, the No 7 seed (6-4, 2-0).
