No 3 seed Irina-Camelia Begu moved into the last 16 of the Tiriac Foundation Trophy when Cristina Dinu retired on Tuesday afternoon.
Begu, ranked No 107, led 6-2, 3-0 when Dinu, ranked No 243, pulled out on Tuesday.
Irina-Camelia Begu will play wildcard Patricia Maria Tig next.
