American wildcard Coco Vandeweghe reached the quarter-finals of the Thoreau Open by winning against German qualifier Eva Lys 6-1, 6-1 at Thoreau Tennis club in Concord on Wednesday night.
Vandeweghe, ranked No 192, will play the winner of the match between Dane wildcard Clara Tauson and Australian Astra Sharma next.
The American beat Alycia Parks (6-4, 6-4) ahead of her victory.
In the previous round of the Concord Open, Lys, ranked No 183, won against Russian Kamilla Rakhimova, the No 8 seed (6-4, 6-3).
