Thoreau Open: Vandeweghe lifts the trophy
Coco Vandeweghe lifted the trophy on Sunday evening against Bernarda Pera.
Wildcard Coco Vandeweghe won the Thoreau Open trophy by edging out second seed Bernarda Pera 6-3, 5-7, 6-4 at Thoreau Tennis club in Concord on Sunday evening.
Vandeweghe, ranked No 192, beat Alycia Parks (6-4, 6-4), German qualifier Eva Lys (6-1, 6-1), Dane wildcard Clara Tauson (7-5, 3-6, 6-4) and Chinese Qiang Wang (6-4, 6-3) in the previous rounds of the Concord Open.
Earlier in the tournament, Pera, ranked No 56, defeated qualifier Kayla Day (6-4, 7-5), Russian Anna Blinkova (2-6, 7-6 (6), 6-3), Katie Volynets (6-3, 6-1) and qualifier Katrina Scott (6-4, 6-2).
