Thoreau Open: Scott makes quarter-finals

American qualifier Katrina Scott moved into the last 8 of the Thoreau Open by winning against Czech Karolina Muchova 6-3, 4-0 at Thoreau Tennis club in Concord on Thursday evening.
Scott, ranked No 241, will face American wildcard Taylor Townsend next.
The 18-year-old American defeated Japanese lucky loser Moyuka Uchijima (6-1, 6-1) in the previous round of the Concord Open.
In the first round of the Concord Open, Muchova, ranked No 168, won against Swede Mirjam Bjorklund (6-2, 6-1).
