Thailand Open: Wang eases past Schmiedlova to make last eight
Yafan Wang beat Anna Karolina Schmiedlova 6-2, 6-4 on Thursday and will face American Katie Volynets in the next round

Chinese Yafan Wang advanced to the quarter-finals of the Thailand Open by winning against Slovak Anna Karolina Schmiedlova, the No 8 seed, 6-2, 6-4 at the True Arena Hua Hin.
Wang, ranked No 78, will face American Katie Volynets next.
The Chinese beat Russian qualifier Alina Korneeva (6-2, 6-4) in the previous round of the Hua Hin tournament.
In the previous round of the Hua Hin tournament, Schmiedlova, ranked No 79, defeated Japanese qualifier Mai Hontama (7-6 (5), 7-6 (8)).
