Thailand Open: Zidansek saves four match points to beat Podoroska and reach semis
The Slovenian will face the winner of the match between Croat Jana Fett and Slovak Rebecca Sramkova next
Slovenian Tamara Zidansek moved into the semi-finals of the Thailand Open by edging out Argentinian Nadia Podoroska 4-6, 7-6 (3), 7-6 (3) on Friday.
The match lasted 3 hours and 41 minutes and the Slovenian saved four match points, coming from 0-40 down in the 10th game and saving a fourth match point in the 12th game of the final set.
Zidansek, ranked No 261, will face the winner of the match between Croat Jana Fett and Slovak Rebecca Sramkova next.
The Slovenian defeated Russian qualifier Tatiana Prozorova (2-6, 6-3, 6-1) and edged out American Katie Volynets, the No 6 seed (3-6, 6-4, 6-4) earlier in the tournament.
In the previous rounds, Podoroska, ranked No 74, won against Russian qualifier Ksenia Laskutova (6-1, 6-0) and second seed Katerina Siniakova (6-3, 6-3).
