Thailand Open: Sramkova wins first WTA singles title
Sramkova won the tournament on Sunday beating Laura Siegemund in the final in straight sets
Slovak Rebecca Sramkova won the Thailand Open tournament by defeating German Laura Siegemund 6-4, 6-4 on Sunday.
This was the first tour title for Sramkova, who also reached the final in Monastir last week.
Sramkova, ranked No 102, beat Thai qualifier Mananchaya Sawangkaew (6-2, 2-6, 6-4), Pole Magda Linette, the No 4 seed (7-6 (5), 6-4), Croat Jana Fett (4-6, 6-4, 6-1) and Slovenian Tamara Zidansek (6-4, 6-2) in the previous rounds.
Meanwhile, Siegemund, ranked No 99, beat American Alycia Parks (6-4, 6-3), Chinese Xiyu Wang, the No 5 seed (7-6 (3), 4-6, 7-6 (1)), Spaniard Rebeka Masarova (6-3, 6-4) and Dutch qualifier Arianne Hartono (6-3, 6-3) earlier in the week.
