Thailand Open 2: Sramkova makes final
Rebecca Sramkova won against Tamara Zidansek 6-4, 6-2
Slovak Rebecca Sramkova won against Slovenian Tamara Zidansek 6-4, 6-2 to advance to the final of the Thailand Open 2 on Saturday.
Sramkova broke Zidansek’s serve four times during the match that lasted for 85 minutes.
Notably, the Slovak has entered a second tour-level final in less than seven days. She earlier reached the summit clash in Monastir, losing to Britain’s Sonay Kartal.
Sramkova, ranked No 102, will face the winner of the match between Dutch qualifier Arianne Hartono and German Laura Siegemund next.
Earlier in the tournament, the Slovak defeated Thai qualifier Mananchaya Sawangkaew (6-2, 2-6, 6-4), Pole Magda Linette, the No 4 seed (7-6 (5), 6-4) and Croat Jana Fett (4-6, 6-4, 6-1).
Zidansek, ranked No 261, won against Russian qualifier Tatiana Prozorova (2-6, 6-3, 6-1), American Katie Volynets, the No 6 seed (3-6, 6-4, 6-4) and Argentinian Nadia Podoroska (4-6, 7-6 (3), 7-6 (3)) in the previous rounds.
