Spaniard Rebeka Masarova edged out Chinese Xinyu Wang, the No 3 seed, 7-6 (6), 3-6, 7-5 to move into the last 8 of the Thailand Open 2 on Thursday.
Masarova and Wang’s battle extended beyond three hours.
Masarova, ranked No 119, will face German Laura Siegemund next.
In the previous round, the Spaniard edged out Hungarian Anna Bondar (3-6, 7-6 (2), 7-5).
Wang, ranked No 52, won against Egyptian Mayar Sherif (6-2, 6-4) in the 32.
