Qualifier Xinyu Gao won against qualifier Sijia Wei 6-3, 6-2 to reach the last 16 of the Thailand Open 2 on Tuesday.
Gao, ranked No 185, will face Dutch qualifier Arianne Hartono next.
Hartono defeated Japan’s Moyuka Uchijima 6-1, 6-1 in her Round-of-32 effort after having entered the main draw through qualifying rounds.
